“Just imagine what solutions might be found if young people are given the space and encouragement to participate and to lead.”            - Kofi Annan

Project Reach Nola

PRN is a youth employment and leadership development program designed to build character, develop leadership, and strengthen academic skills. Research shows that communities with high levels of violence also experience disproportionately high levels of poverty and unemployment. Training and access to jobs give youth a pathway out of violence toward a successful life.

PRN Summer Leadership Academy
PRN Summer Leadership Academy

Upon completion of the Summer Leadership Academy, participants are eligible to apply for our year-long Internship Program. Internship placements are made based on both the interests and skill set of the youth as well as the requirements of one of COA’s programmatic initiatives. During the academic year (January- April) interns work 10-15 hours a week.

Participants in each program are required to create and maintain a development plan, called The Blueprint. Youth are asked to think about their personal, educational and career goals and how they will achieve them. This information forms the basis of The Blueprint.  The initial Blueprint is presented at the end of the Summer Leadership Academy to a panel of staff, supervisors, peers and parents.  The Blueprint is part of the annual review process for each intern.
